Post 8- Psych Memes
Hey bloggers, I have made a few memes for you to explore today! I will include the image and explain the psychology meme after! Enjoy!
False Consensus effect
This makes an individual think everyone has the same ideas as them, and it is very shocking to find out your opinions are unique from something you thought was standard. Here is a good article! Also, I think this could be a good example of Theory of Mind, depending on your interpretation. Learn about this here!
Milgram Experiment
In the Milgram Prison Experiment, volunteers were encouraged to push a shock button (as instructed by an authority figure). Most felt pressured to keep pressing more-intense buttons, but it made them feel wrong inside. Click this link to learn more (no one will get shocked).
Conformity (Asch Line Test)
People were shown lines and asked to match which have the same length. Actors intentionally chose the incorrect answer, and the following, unknowing participant would go with the group. Click here for a more detailed explanation!
Classical Conditioning
Pavlov rang a bell and after a while, his dog learned to expect food. Conditioned response, or a learned behavior. Learn more about this experience here!
In this experiment, some were selected to be fake "prison guards" while the other individuals acted as though they were inmates in the facility. Each actor assumed their role, and fake prisoners followed all orders of the fake guards. Read about it here!
I included extra memes I didn't want to showcase with my favorite 5, so the rest are below (just extras, some may not have links or explanations)!Freud's Psychosexual Stages of Development (Oedipus Complex)
Assimilation
This little girl observed a group of geese (I think and hope). Likely, she has never seen geese before, so she assumed it was an animal she was familiar with, a chicken! (formerly a Vine I made into this meme about assimilation). This article has some info!
Kylie Jenner has lived in a huge mansion her entire life, so she is unfamiliar with farm animals, so it seems. In a viral clip from KUWTK, Kylie mistakenly asked if the pig was a "chicken" when her mother brought it inside their home. Maybe her hippocampus isn't working or she is facing amnesia (can you tell why I put these memes at the end?)
Freud's Anal Stage in Psychosexual Development
Freud is so odd. Research or don't (you probably should not)
I hope you enjoyed today's post, and stay tuned for one more blog this year!
